Jiajiang calligraphy and painting paper has a long history. Jiajiang handmade papermaking began in the Tang Dynasty, continued in the Song Dynasty, flourished in the Ming Dynasty, and prospered in the Qing Dynasty. It became "tribute paper" and "paper for the imperial examination" during the Kangxi and Qianlong periods. It reached its peak during the Anti-Japanese War, with an annual output of 10,000 tons. The output, variety, and quality were the highest in the country. As early as the Tang Dynasty, there were records about Jiajiang paper. Jiajiang bamboo paper developed rapidly in the Song Dynasty. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Jiajiang paper ushered in a period of prosperity. In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, Jiajiang paper had been widely used in cultural education, economic trade, and infiltrated into many areas of people's production and life. During the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, Jiajiang handmade paper created unprecedented glory. The "County Chronicles" published in the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935 AD) specifically recorded the incident of "papermaking families in various districts" "accusing each other because of the paper for the imperial examination". At that time, Jiajiang paper was designated as "tribute paper" and became the paper used in the palace and "paper for the imperial examination". During the Anti-Japanese War, Jiajiang became an important paper production base for the rear area, with an annual output of nearly 10,000 tons, ranking first among all paper-producing counties in Sichuan. Jiajiang became the top producer of handmade paper in the country at that time. The famous Chinese painting master Zhang Daqian came to Shiyan Village, Macun Township twice, and worked with Shi Guoliang (the eldest son of the famous Shi Ziqing), etc., to develop calligraphy and painting paper, improve the quality of Jiajiang calligraphy and painting paper, and produce the famous "Daqian calligraphy and painting paper", which has been highly praised by famous Chinese calligraphers and painters in modern times. Therefore, Jiajiang calligraphy and painting paper was named "Daqian calligraphy and painting paper", and it was praised as "China has Xuan and Jia paper, which can be called two treasures" together with Anhui Xuan paper. In the 1940s, Mr. Zhang Daqian, a master of Chinese painting, came to Shiyan, Macun, Jiajiang twice and worked with paper farmer Shi Ziqing to develop the famous "Shu Paper" and "Lotus Paper" Dafengtang special calligraphy and painting paper. Famous Chinese calligraphers and painters in modern times also highly praised Jiajiang calligraphy and painting paper and were happy to use it. It is known as "China has two papers, Xuan and Jia, which can be called two treasures" together with Anhui Xuan paper. Jiajiang handmade papermaking is well-known throughout the country for "maintaining the most complete traditional skills, the most refined craftsmanship, and the largest output." Jiajiang's traditional handmade papermaking skills have been exhibited in the United States, Canada, Italy and other countries many times, and are known as "Oriental art treasures." In the late 1980s, the country's first professional paper museum, the Jiajiang Handmade Papermaking Museum, was built. In 1994, our county's "Yunhe" calligraphy and painting paper won the "Asia-Pacific Gold Award" at the 5th "Asia-Pacific International Expo." In 2003, "Yayi" brand calligraphy and painting paper; in 2010, "Huayi" brand, "Shuangbao" brand, "Yunlong" brand, and "Zhikang" brand calligraphy and painting paper were awarded the China Four Treasures Industry Product Gold Award and the Top Ten Famous Papers of China's Four Treasures at the 14th and 25th National Four Treasures Art Expo, and were awarded the "National Treasure" honorary certificate. In 2006, the bamboo paper making skills of Jiajiang were successfully declared as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritages; in 2008, the Ministry of Culture awarded Jiajiang County the title of "Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art, Hometown of Painting and Calligraphy Paper"; in the same year, Jiajiang New Year paintings with paper as the carrier were also declared as national intangible cultural heritage; in June 2009, the Jiajiang Painting and Calligraphy Paper Industry Chamber of Commerce was established; in July 2009, Peng Changgui of our county was awarded the title of "The First Chinese Four Treasures of the Study' Calligraphy and Painting Mounting' Art Master"; in November 2009, our county was successfully declared as the "Hometown of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Paper", and in October 2010, it was awarded by the China Light Industry Federation and the China Four Treasures of the Study Association in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. In 2012, Moyun Painting and Calligraphy Paper Co., Ltd. of our county was rated as "Key Cultural Enterprise of Sichuan Province"; the products of Longxiao Painting and Calligraphy Paper Factory were authorized as the only designated paper by the Ministry of Education's Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Grade Examination and the National Youth and Children's Cultural Art Exhibition and Evaluation Activities. In October 2012, Jiajiang calligraphy and painting paper was awarded the national geographical indication protection product. In 2012, the local standard of Jiajiang calligraphy and painting paper was formulated and issued. At the same time, at the 35th National Four Treasures of the Study Art Expo, the "Yayi" brand painting and calligraphy paper produced by Yayi Painting and Calligraphy Paper Co., Ltd. and the "Zhikang" brand painting and calligraphy paper produced by Zhikang Painting and Calligraphy Paper Factory in our county won the honorary title of "National Treasure China's Top Ten Famous Papers". The "Huayi" brand painting and calligraphy paper produced by Moyun Painting and Calligraphy Paper Co., Ltd., the "Ziqing" brand painting and calligraphy paper produced by Macun Shiziqing Paper Mill, and the "Leyi" brand painting and calligraphy paper produced by Jinxing Painting and Calligraphy Paper Factory won the honorary title of gold medal. The production area of Jiajiang calligraphy and painting paper covers the administrative areas of 12 towns and villages in Jiajiang County, Sichuan Province, including Macun Township, Zhongxing Town, Wangcheng Town, Yingjiang Township, Nan'an Township, Mucheng Town, Huangtu Town, Jiepai Town, Longtuo Township, Huatou Town, Maliu Township, and Xiema Township. 1. Storage requirements Products should be stored in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse; it is strictly forbidden to stack in the open air, expose to the sun, rain or near heat sources. 4. Quality characteristics Sensory characteristics: The paper is soft and soft to the touch, the paper surface is smooth, there are faint bamboo curtain patterns, the cutting edges are neat and clean, and there are no folds, cracks, holes, sand particles and attachments on the paper surface that affect the use.
