The Sanduo Festival is held on the eighth day of the second lunar month every year. It is called "Sanduo Song" in Naxi language. It originated from the Beiyue Temple Fair in Yulong Village, Baisha. It is a legal national festival of the Naxi people, a traditional festival of the Naxi people, and a grand festival for the Naxi people to worship the greatest protector of their own nation. The Sanduo Festival has a history of more than a thousand years. It is a symbolic festival of the Naxi people. "Sanduo" is the main deity and the highest protector of the Naxi people. Legend has it that he is a war god riding a white horse, wearing white armor, wearing a white helmet, and holding a white spear. He often shows his holiness and protects the safety of the Naxi people. A temple was built in the Tang Dynasty to worship him, and he is deeply believed by the Naxi people. People also believe that "Sanduo" is the incarnation of Yulong Snow Mountain. Sanduo is the war god worshipped by the Naxi people, and also the protector of the Naxi people. On May 24, 2021, the Naxi Sanduo Festival, which was applied for by Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, was approved by the State Council to be included in the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects.
