It absorbs and draws on many artistic techniques such as Chinese painting, printmaking, paper cutting, and pyrography. Heilongjiang wheat straw craft began in 1903, with its original semi-relief technique. The works are simple and elegant, magnificent and lifelike. The wheat straw paintings "Fragrance Fills the World" and "Peace and Prosperity" won the UNESCO Outstanding Handicraft Badge.
