"Huangling drum-lifting", also known as "dragon drum", is a folk art form with the characteristics of both drum music and drum dance. It is a large-scale percussion dance commonly used in Huangling sacrificial activities and Yangko community fire. "Huangling drum-lifting" is unique in form and obvious in characteristics, with a typical regional style. The diameter of the small drum is about 45 cm, and the thickness of the drum is about 30 cm. Two wooden sticks cross the drum clapper, and two slings are tied to the end. During the performance, two people lift and beat it together. The diameter of the medium drum is about 80 cm, and the thickness of the drum is about 50 cm. The decoration is the same as the small drum. During the performance, two people lift and one person beats it. The diameter of the large drum is about 150 cm, and the thickness of the drum is about 100 cm. During the performance, 16 people lift and three people beat it. The three kinds of drums are beaten together, which is magnificent and overwhelming. According to "Historical Records of the Five Emperors" and "Shan According to the "Classic of the Seas", "Huangdi Neijing" and "Lushishu Geji'Huangdi", it is said that Chiyou had a bronze head and iron arms, could call the wind and rain, spit out fireworks, and sprayed thick fog from his mouth during the battle, making it impossible for Huangdi's army to fight. Therefore, Huangdi followed the mysteries of the Three Palaces and Five Emperors and the key points of the Eight Gates and Nine Rivers, used the compass as the forerunner, set up the king's flag and the king's banner, made a giant drum with the skin of the Kui beast, and used the bones of the Kui beast as drumsticks to urge the battle, and the sound of beating the drum could be heard for 3,800 miles. Huangdi commanded the army, and the three gates were fired at the same time. The king and his generals all beat the drums, and finally they conquered Chiyou with one "drum". This legend explains in detail that the "drum" was invented during the Huangdi period, the dragon is the symbol of the Huangdi, and Huangling is the hometown of the dragon. As a result, this heroic, rough, vigorous and unrestrained simple performance has spread on both sides of the Ju River. Huangling drum-lifting has a long history. Through years of excavation and collection, , sorting, and processing, and gradually matured, with a certain degree of ornamental and artistic quality. Its performance lineup is huge, with more than 100 people. There is a large drum (command drum), carried by 16 people and played by 3 people; four medium drums, each carried by two people and played by one person; 16 small drums, carried by two people and played by two people; 32 pairs of large cymbals, four drum flags, 20 dragon flags and a commander. There are two forms of performance of Huangling drum: one is the performance while marching, and the other is the performance for positioning in the square. The basic drum beats of the two performance forms include the compact and strong "Sand Luo Drum", the concise and thick "Pan Set Drum", and the newly created drum scores such as "Road Drum" and "Seven Hammers". Huangling drum once made its mark in the large-scale art performance "Splendid China" organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture on the Qingming Festival in the Dingchou year. On June 20 of the same year, in Shaanxi Province Huangling drum lifts showed their charm again in the TV gala "One Root" organized by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee. On October 24, they performed successfully again in the gala of 24 city TV stations in Tongli. Since then, they have participated in the Yan'an City Gonggu Yangko Festival many times, as well as the annual Qingming and Chongyang Festival ancestor worship activities at the Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum. On December 31, 1999, when the country welcomed the arrival of the millennium, "Huangling drum lifts" participated in the Yan'an City "Thousands of Gongs and Drums Welcome the Millennium" large-scale performance with its overwhelming momentum, and received unanimous praise from all walks of life. Over the years, Huangling drum lifts have organically combined and inherited regional culture and Yellow Emperor culture with its heroic, rough, vigorous, unrestrained, simple and free performance form, enhanced the cohesion and pride of the nation, and made people feel more of the national spirit of self-improvement and striving for progress.
