Shaanxi
🎧  Listen to Introduction

The flower stick is also called "full body sound" or "overlord whip", which is mainly popular in Yan'an and Fuxian areas. The flower stick is made of a wooden stick, generally nearly four feet long and no more than one inch thick. There are many hollow grooves on the flower stick, and two to four movable hemp coins (copper coins) or steel rings are installed in the grooves. For the sake of beauty, it can be dyed into flower nodes. During the performance, the actors wear ancient soldier clothes or modern yangko clothes, holding this stick, turning over, spinning, wrapping around the waist, kicking, and hitting rhythmically from the head, shoulders, waist, legs, feet and other parts in sequence, with folk martial arts movements, and also making "sha, sha" sounds. The performance venue can be either a square or a stage. The number of stage performers is generally two to eight, and the number of square performers is preferably forty to sixty. Both men and women can perform, and musical instruments and music must be accompanied during the performance. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
