The land and water nurture the people, and the people create the culture. The Buyi people who have lived in Tunjiao Town, Xingren County for generations have created a colorful bronze drum culture in the history of their struggle with nature. It is said that the bronze drum is a traditional musical instrument of the Buyi people for exorcising evil spirits, offering sacrifices, and celebrating a good harvest, and it has a history of more than 2,000 years. There are more than 120 bronze drums in Qianxinan Prefecture, and there are 28 in Tunjiao Town, Xingren County, which is the largest number in the province. There are still "fourteen pieces" of bronze drum scores that have been well preserved since the Han and Tang Dynasties, and there are more than 150 Buyi villagers in the town who can skillfully play bronze drums according to the drum scores. In 2000, the first "China Guizhou Xingren August 8 Miao Ethnic Festival" allowed the 28 Buyi bronze drums in Tunjiao Town, which had been hidden in the mountains for thousands of years, to appear on the stage for the first time in a large-scale event, which has since unveiled the mystery of the Tunjiao Buyi bronze drums and attracted many experts, scholars and cultural professionals from inside and outside the province to explore the secrets of the bronze drums. In 2005, the Tunjiao Buyi Bronze Drum Performance Team was invited to participate in the "Colorful Qianxinan" Art Festival, "June 6th Buyi Folklore Festival in Zhenfeng, Guizhou, China", and "August 8th Miao Folklore Festival in Xingren, Guizhou, China". In the third Guizhou Minority Art Festival held in the same year, the Tunjiao Buyi Bronze Drum Performance, as the main festival of Qianxinan Prefecture, won the gold medal in one fell swoop. Guizhou TV Channels 1 and 2, and CCTV Channels 4 and 7 successively made special reports, attracting the attention of many media and experts and scholars at home and abroad. The Guizhou Buyi Society awarded Tunjiao Town, Xingren County the reputation of "Hometown of Buyi Bronze Drum". On June 3, 2006, the Guizhou Buyi Society approved the establishment of the "Qianxinan Prefecture Buyi Society Tunjiao Buyi Bronze Drum Culture Research Association". The simple and magical Tunjiao Buyi Bronze Drum Culture will soon go beyond the borders and into the world, and integrate into the world's national cultural tide.
