Bouyei embroidery is a handicraft created by the Bouyei people, with exquisite skills and unique artistic style. It is an important means of handi art to express the Bouyei people's life interest and an important part of the Bouyei culture. Bouyei embroidery in Qianxinan Prefecture has a wide range of themes, rich content and diverse embroidery methods, which are mainly reflected in the careful decoration of clothing. The local Bouyei belts, scarves, shoes, quilts, bed covers, handkerchiefs and various embroidered clothes are decorated with embroidery. Other household items such as pillowcases, purses and shoulder bags also have a large number of embroidery applications. The most common patterns of Bouyei embroidery in Qianxinan Prefecture are "dragon and phoenix", "mandarin ducks", "cranes", "unicorns", "butterflies", "magpies", "fish", "pomegranates", "lotus flowers", "peach flowers" and so on. Bouyei embroidery has vivid and lifelike images, bright colors, strong texture, and artistic effects of both form and spirit. Bouyei embroidery mainly uses flat embroidery, pasting embroidery and other needlework methods. Different techniques show different style characteristics, giving people a fine and uniform embroidery method, bright and smooth colors, and a smooth and beautiful artistic feeling. On May 24, 2021, it was approved by the State Council to be included in the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative list.
