Bai Tree Flower Festival
Sanyingbazi in Eryuan County is located at the foot of Lingying Mountain, which is beautiful and has a panoramic view of the world. Every year on the 15th day of the second lunar month, a Bai farmer's meeting is held. The Bai farmer's meeting on the 15th day of the second lunar month is also called the Bai tree and flower meeting. There is also a legend about this. In the early Tang Dynasty, Piluoge, the leader of Mengshe Zhao, who was proud of his strong soldiers and brave generals, dispatched troops to invade Langqiong Zhao. The leader of Langqiong Zhao ordered tens of thousands of soldiers to break off many branches and flowers from Lingying Mountain, where mountain flowers were in full bloom, and planted them in the vast Sanyingbazi, and sprinkled a lot of honey water on the branches and flowers. The rich smell of honey and the fragrance of various flowers attracted bees and butterflies from far and near. A few days later, tens of thousands of Mengshe Zhao soldiers marched into Sanyingbazi. Faced with the endless "sea of flowers" before their eyes, they were dazzled, clapped their hands in amazement, and then rushed to pick flowers. The startled and angry swarm of bees stung the invaders fiercely. One by one, they were stung and their noses and faces were swollen, and they screamed and cried to the sky. Thousands of butterflies also flew around in front of the eyes of the Mengshezhao soldiers, making it difficult for them to tell the directions. Amid the earth-shaking sound of war drums, the Langqiongzhao soldiers who were ambushed in the dam took advantage of the situation to chase and kill the enemy. An ambush with the help of "bee soldiers and butterfly generals" ended quickly. The Bai villagers of Langqiongzhao cooked a donkey soup pot and brought white flour buns and barley wine to reward the soldiers. This day is the 15th day of the second lunar month. In order to commemorate this unusual day, people come to the ancient battlefield site to attend the fair and do business on the 15th day of the second lunar month every year. A few days before the meeting, the young girls and wives in the Bai village bought white cloth and colored threads, invited each other, and embroidered flowers together to make embroidered scarves. The Bai embroidered scarves are square, with a side length of about two feet. There is a colorful butterfly embroidered on each of the four corners of the embroidered scarf, and green leaves, red flowers and bees are embroidered in the center of the embroidered scarf. People use this to express their gratitude to bees and butterflies. Before and after the tree and flower fair, Bai villagers always plant a few "bee trees" and a few "butterfly flowers" in front of and behind their houses to express their feelings of "remembering the past and thinking of their ancestors". Sanyingbazi is known as the "Flower and Fruit Dam", which is inseparable from the legends and customs of the tree and flower fair to a certain extent. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
