The sheepskin fan-drum dance is performed by a "god team" that is half agricultural and half artistic. The performers have eyes painted on their foreheads, which means "the horse king has three eyes". The god team is composed of five to eight "mages" led by a master chef (shaman) or a team owner. On weekdays, the "mages" work on the farm at home, and they invite each other to participate in activities together. The activities of the god team are invited by the god associations or individual families composed of the masses of each village. When inviting, you need to write a post first and go to the master chef's house to invite, which the masses call "writing gods". The god team will worship whatever god the village community believes in. The main purpose of the sacrifice is to "drive away plague", "sacrifice insects" and "keep peace". No matter which god is sacrificed, when performing, you must first sing "Sacrifice to God Song", then sing a paragraph, and then dance a fan-drum dance, alternating between singing and dancing, singing first and dancing later. Commonly sung god songs include "Sacrifice to Insects", "Drive Away Plague" and "Keep Peace". When the sheepskin fan drum dance is performed in a sacrificial ceremony, the venue can be set up in the temple courtyard or at the crossroads in the village. The performance venue must have an altar, also known as the "sacrificial altar". The altar is surrounded by four wooden stakes to form a venue 3 meters wide and 4 meters long. The wooden stakes are connected by thin ropes, and small colorful flags and flower streamers are hung on the thin ropes, so it is also called the "five-flower altar". The altar is divided into the inner and outer altars. The inner altar is located in the north and the outer altar is located in the south. There is a square table on each altar, called the "instruction table". On the outer altar table are placed buckets and liters of community soil and grains and various offerings. In the buckets and liters, there are "god tablets" made of yellow paper, on which the names of the gods and small five-color triangular colored flags are written. A flagpole is erected at the west and south corners outside the altar, and the flagpole is pasted with colored paper to represent the four seasons, eight festivals, twelve months, and three hundred and sixty-five days of the year. A small triangular flag is inserted on the top of the pole to summon ghosts and gods, and then a bunch of millet and sorghum stalks are tied to represent the five grains. Then, banners made of colored paper are hung. The white one is the "ghost banner", and the colorful one with octagonal is the "god banner". The area between the inner and outer altars is the performance area. When performing the sheepskin fan drum dance, three people are in a group, positioned by the altar sacrificial table, with the upper north and the lower south, and the west out and the east in. According to legend, there are 72 kinds of dance movements, and only more than ten kinds of movements such as "participating in the gods", "one step of the gods", "inverted three feet", "blocking the horse's head", and "swinging and turning" are preserved. Among them, jumping, stepping, kneeling, flipping, and turning are also mixed. In addition, there are "turning drums", "swinging drums", "stirring drums", "carrying flower drums", "whirlwind drums", "moving drums", etc. The formation changes are mainly "running in a circle" and "circling characters".
