The sheepskin fan drum dance was originally a sacrificial ritual of the Di people. It is widely spread in Longnan, southern Shaanxi, and northern Sichuan. Now it has developed into a popular folk dance. Since Kang County is the hometown of the Di people, the sheepskin drum dance has been widely inherited. Now every year on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month and the 15th day of the tenth lunar month, the people in the northern part of Kang County will play the sheepskin drum, which is also called playing the master, dancing the Duangong, and drawing the Baozhuang.
