Yuelu Mountain Folk Tales
Yuelu Mountain is one of the famous mountains in China, and is one of the components of Changsha's "mountain, water, island and city". It integrates Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. There are many folk stories in Yuelu Mountain, such as Tao Kan shooting the python, the story of the flying stone, the legend of the White Crane Spring, the legend of the self-made bell, the story of the python cave, the legend of the Yuwang Monument, etc., all of which are related to the scenic spots of Yuelu Mountain. They are of great artistic and educational significance, have been passed down for a long time, and have a profound influence. The folk stories of Yuelu Mountain are narrated in Changsha dialect, have a wide range of mass and folk inheritance, and have precious folk literature value. They are produced and rooted in the folk, and are literary works with local characteristics. They have a significant impact on the formation and development of Changsha folk literature; they have folklore value, are a prominent embodiment of Changsha's traditional culture, symbolize the spirit, belief and value orientation of Changsha people, and provide rich materials for Changsha folklore research. In 2009, with the approval of the Changsha Municipal People's Government, Yuelu Mountain folk stories were successfully applied for the second batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage list.
