Wenqu Opera, also known as "Diao'er Opera", originated from Guangji (now Wuxue City) in eastern Hubei and Taibai Lake area in Huangmei, and was popular in the neighboring counties and cities of Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces. It was gradually formed on the basis of "popular songs" and folk songs handed down from the Ming Dynasty. The repertoire includes "Jinlian Diao Shu", "Su Wenbiao Borrowing Clothes", "Song Jiang Killing Xi", "Dian Yao" and "You Long Xi Feng" transplanted from Han Opera, which are popular among the masses.
