Chen's microcarving refers to the microcarving skills of Chen Shijun of Taiping Street. Chen's microcarving works include: "The Full Text of the Report of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of China" (more than 40,000 words), "The Work Report of the Eighth People's Government" (more than 20,000 words), "Southern Tour Speech", "White Paper on the Status of Chinese Women" (presented to the World Women's Conference), "Three Hundred Tang Poems" and "Journey to the West". The above works have been presented to Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, Deng Xiaoping and other party and state leaders. The People's Daily, CCTV, China Youth Daily, China Farmers' Daily, Zhejiang TV, Taizhou Daily and other news media have reported on it. The characteristics of Chen's microcarving: First, the carving skills are unique, and two seven-character poems can be carved on a grain of rice. No magnifying glass is needed during the carving process, and it is all done in one go by the mind operating on the needle tip. Secondly, the selection of materials and processing are unique. Generally, frozen stone is used, which is sawed by hand into small pieces of stone with a thickness of about 3 mm, a width of about 450-500 mm, and a length of about 900-1000 mm. It is then filed thin and flattened with a file, smoothed with water sandpaper, and then trimmed, waxed, and polished before use. As an exquisite and rare folk art craft, Chen's micro-carving has a certain collection value, especially the engraving technique of the idea operating on the needle tip, which is worth studying.
