Microcarving, also known as ivory carving or microcarving, is a comprehensive art that uses a knife instead of a pen, is characterized by "micro" and is based on "fineness". It integrates the strengths of "calligraphy, painting, seal carving, and color" and is a combination of the three wonders of "calligraphy, painting, and carving". Bengbu is located in the northern part of Anhui Province. The unearthed pottery of the Shuangdun culture in Bengbu has exquisite carved symbols, which is 7,300 years old. The special geographical characteristics, the long historical and cultural accumulation, and the influence of modern multiculturalism have formed the unique aesthetic characteristics of Yang's microcarving. "Yang's microcarving" is a common name for the microcarving works of three generations of Yang Dake, Yang Qipeng, and Yang Yang. Yang Dake is a famous Chinese microcarving artist and a master of Yang's microcarving. His microcarving paintings are spiritual and natural. His microcarving calligraphy is elegant and unrestrained. His stone seal carving is vigorous and powerful. His son Yang Qipeng has been learning from his father since he was young. He can directly use the blade to carve on pearls, gold, human hair, porcelain, ivory, purple sand and various stones. Yang Qipeng's daughter Yang Yang, the third-generation inheritor of "Yang's Microcarving", was born in 1980. She is the executive director of the Fine Art Professional Committee of the Chinese Museum Society, a member of the Anhui Youth Federation, an inheritor of Anhui folk culture, and a director of the Municipal Arts and Crafts Association. Yang Yang is the youngest woman in China to date who is engaged in the creation of fine art works. Yang's microcarving is a super-visual art that is passed down through family inheritance. Yang's microcarving inherits traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, and pays attention to precision, micro and artistry. It not only copies blindly, but also innovates knives and develops new products. It can carve on hard materials with a degree of 6-7, especially the carving of pearls and Hetian jade, breaking through the carving skills for thousands of years, better expressing the artistic charm of traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, and thus enhancing the artistic taste and collection value.
