Anyuan Xinshan Climbing the Knife Mountain (the third batch of provincial level) "Climbing the Knife Mountain" is a traditional religious culture in my country. It originated from a sacrificial ritual of the red-headed Taoist priests ("Yangshi") of the Hunyuan School of Zhengyi Taoism. It is usually performed in folk temples and palaces. It is used to worship gods, exorcise evil spirits, and pray for peace and prosperity in the country. "Climbing the Knife Mountain" was introduced to Anyuan by Xiong Shishilang and Xiong Shishiniang in the Ming Dynasty, and was most popular in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. The performers of "Climbing the Knife Mountain" are called "Red-headed Taoist priests", also known as "Yangshi". It is not only popular in China, but also in many Southeast Asian countries. The "Shangdao Mountain" in Xinshan, Anyuan, absorbed the shamans' worship of ghosts and gods in the Yin and Zhou dynasties, the theory of Fangxian in the pre-Qin period, and the Yin-Yang and Five Elements, Taoism, Confucianism and other schools of thought in the Spring and Autumn Period, and gradually formed a Taoist thought that combined ghost worship, immortals and alchemy with ancient idealistic philosophical thoughts. In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, it formed an organized religion, respected Laozi as the leader, and took the "Tao Te Ching" as the main classic. The "Shangdao Mountain" was introduced to Anyuan by Xiong Shishilang and Xiong Shishiniang in the Ming Dynasty, and was most popular in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. At that time, due to the underdeveloped science, the people often suffered from various disasters such as plague and disease, locusts damaging crops, drought and floods, and poor crops, and the people suffered terribly. Therefore, the folk temples in Anyuan were led by the temple fairs, and the people raised funds to hold fasting and dipping rituals for three days and four nights, five days and six nights, and seven days and eight nights. The longest one was called "Da Wanyuan Dipping", which lasted for 49 days. The "Shang Dao Mountain" performance was performed at noon every day, praying for good weather, expelling plague and evil spirits, a good harvest, and peace and prosperity for the country and the people. It expressed the people's good wishes for a happy life. "Shang Dao Mountain" was the upsurge of fasting and dipping rituals and the most exciting moment. Until the "Cultural Revolution", "Shang Dao Mountain" was banned, and the red-headed Taoist priests ("Yangshi") were also greatly affected. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Party, with the approval of the State Council Religious Affairs Bureau, the national religion was restored, and the Anyuan "Shang Dao Mountain" performance appeared again in folk temples in various places.
