Lianyungang Yangko
Yangko, a traditional dance item in the fifth batch of representative items of Lianyungang's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Yangko dance, also known as twisting yangko, is called yangko dance because it adopts the cross step of farmers planting rice in daily life. It is a collective traditional folk song and dance form performed in folk festivals. It is mainly spread in Xinpu District of Lianyungang City and its surrounding counties and districts, such as Haizhou, Donghai County, Ganyu District, etc. Yangko has a history of thousands of years in my country. According to folk legend, it originated from farmers' farming and was a song and dance performed by farmers during the rice planting season. It was first formed in the Tang Dynasty. Due to different regions of spread, there are different types of Yangko in northern Shaanxi, Yangko in northern Shanxi, Yangko in the northeast, Yangko in Hebei, Yangko in Jiaozhou, Shandong, and Yangko in drums. In the early Qing Dynasty, there was a custom of "Yangko teams making a fuss in the spring sun" everywhere in the country, and people were shoulder to shoulder watching. After the Republic of China, the noisy "kicking field" yangko in Shaanxi, northwest China, began to prevail. In 1942, inspired by Mao Zedong's "Speech in Yan'an", professional artists processed it and injected the spirit of the times, adding strong rhythms and vigorous steps. Since then, a wave of northern Shaanxi Yangko has swept the country from Yan'an. In the late 1990s, Lianyungang artist Liu Rong was fortunate to be a disciple of Yan'an Yangko teacher Lv Feng. Under the guidance of the teacher, he systematically studied northern Shaanxi Yangko across the country, studied hard, and continued to study. Later, he took the initiative to learn other types of Yangko dance, such as Northeast Yangko, Ocean Yangko, Jiaozhou Yangko, Yunnan Flower Drum Yangko, Anhui Flower Drum Yangko, etc. With his persistence and serious learning attitude, he learned from the strengths of many schools and created the "one series and five sets" Lianyungang Yangko. Lianyungang Yangko is based on northern Shaanxi Yangko. It is a collective folk dance performance activity with low intensity, long time and medium exercise. The team members are generally an even number. The basic dance steps are like the movements of farmers when transplanting rice seedlings, generally cross steps. The performance includes four processes: opening, intermission, main stage, and closing. The Lianyungang Yangko performance choreographs various formation combinations and changes of walking and dancing, and adds local folk dance elements to the traditional Yangko dance. It takes the fan Yangko dance as a classic form, and incorporates the strong, explosive and beautiful movements of fitness dance into it. Fan dance is a special hand movement of Yangko dance, mainly including fan-circling movements and fan-pushing movements. Performers are required to flexibly use important parts of the body such as the waist, neck, elbows, buttocks, including joints, during activities, and maintain a balanced center of gravity, intersperse freely, and change flexibly in the music and rhythm of the dance. The dancer's eyes, ears, hands, body, and steps should be active and agile on the one hand, and on the other hand, they should keep the same tone with the team members.
