Huai Opera (Yancheng), a traditional drama project in the second batch of national representative list of intangible cultural heritage. Huai Opera, also known as "Jianghuai Opera", is popular in Jiangsu Province, Shanghai and parts of Anhui Province. It has a history of more than 200 years. The original Huai Opera was mostly folk life dramas, and its main singing tune was developed on the basis of "Men Tan Ci", "Xianghuo Opera" and some folk songs and ditties, namely [Huai Diao] (later called [Lao Huai Diao]). It was deeply influenced by Hui Opera and Peking Opera in terms of performance skills and repertoire. In 1912, Huai Opera entered Shanghai. In 1939, famous actors Xiao Wenyan, He Jiaotian and others created [Free Tune] based on [La Diao] and other singing styles. In 1942, the Yanfu Art Troupe and other art performance groups were established in the Anti-Japanese Base Area in Northern Jiangsu, and the "Huai Opera Research Group" was established. Not only did they create and perform modern dramas reflecting the people's revolutionary struggle, but they also reformed and created singing styles such as [New Huai Diao] and [New Sad Diao]. In addition to the above tunes, Huai Opera singing also includes tunes such as [Nanchang Tune], [Huai Bei Tune], [Shizi Tune], [Xiahe Tune], [Ye Zi Tune], and some tunes from folk songs and ditties, such as [Mofang Tune], [Bu Gang Tune], [Tiao Cao Tune], [Ba Duan Jin], etc. Accompaniment instruments include erhu, sanxian, yangqin, flute, suona, etc.; percussion instruments include flat drum, Su gong, cymbals, hall drum, etc. A complete set of accompaniment gongs and drums developed on the basis of Yanfu's "Hua Gu Gong", "Tong Zi Gong" and "Qilin Gong" eventually formed the three main tunes of the mature "banqiangti" vocal system of this opera, [Huai Tune], [Ziyou Tune], [La Tune], with distinctive artistic characteristics. Huai Opera, she came from history. On the basis of retaining the characteristics of the opera, she constantly absorbed new artistic elements and techniques according to the changes in the audience's aesthetic tastes, innovated and developed in inheritance, kept pace with the times, and radiated new brilliance in the new era.
