Three-person flower drum
"Three-person Flower Drum" Three-person Flower Drum is a traditional dance project in the second batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage. "Flower Drum Opera" is a folk drama created by the working people. It was formed in the Qing Dynasty, more than a hundred years ago. It is a characteristic culture of the local folk. It is a local drama with unique artistic style, deep mass base, distinct local color and strong life atmosphere. "Three-person Flower Drum" is also called Yancheng Flower Drum. It is mainly danced and supplemented by singing. It is a flower drum form different from other regions. According to legend, in the middle and late Qing Dynasty, displaced villagers, in order to make a living, begged for rewards and food on the street, danced and sang, and gradually evolved into three-person flower drum. "Three-person Flower Drum" sings and dances, and the three people are Sheng, Dan and Chou. The female role is Dan, also known as Huagu Mama, who holds a red pompom in one hand and a red silk in the other; the male role is Sheng, who holds a small gong in one hand and a small gong board in the other, with a red silk tied around his waist. The couple often dance and sing with love as the thread. The other male role is an old clown, also known as Tiaotong, who has an ugly face, a nose beard, a grass wool ring on his head, a vest on his upper body, and a broken banana fan in his hand, performing a provocative performance between a man and a woman. The atmosphere of the Huagu performance is created by the old clown. When singing, he makes jokes, is humorous, and makes people laugh with his funny performance. The "three-person Huagu" in Yancheng is particularly prominent in Dagang "three-person Huagu", which is based on folk dance and absorbs various art forms such as labor folk songs, walking signs and opera music. The melodies used in the performances are local folk songs and humming songs, which gradually developed into several basic tunes and were applied to dramas with simple plots. Later, due to the complexity of the plots and the requirements for the expression of the characters' thoughts and feelings, the original tunes became tunes with various rhythms, which can express various emotions and are suitable for male and female voices. However, some of the original tunes have been lost. In the early days, only semi-professional groups of "three-person flower drum" performed seasonally in rural areas, working on the farm during the busy farming season and doing art during the slack season. With the development of history and the changes of the times, it has now developed into a flower drum team that is spontaneously organized, participated in and entertained by itself, and has also changed a lot in form: some local flower drums in the form of songs and dances have been adapted into couple flower drums with storylines; some have adapted the original three characters "sheng, dan, chou" into "laosheng, xiaodan, huadan" characters for performance, etc. They are also performed during many major festivals to show the progress and civilization of society, to wish for peace and wealth, and to celebrate a good harvest. The "Three-person Flower Drum" has gradually matured from a primitive folk dance to an artistic dance. (No pictures yet, please provide them.) (No pictures yet, please provide them.)
