Flower drum singing
Southern Shaanxi Flower Drum is a local song in which a pair of actors, a female lead and a male lead, sing folk stories in a sitting manner using the Southern Shaanxi Flower Drum tune. It becomes a song and dance form with singing and dancing during the Spring Festival social activities; there are also opera forms with roles after being put on stage. Southern Shaanxi Flower Drum, as a singing music, is mainly composed of the "Shanghe Tune" in the middle and upper reaches of the Han River and the "Xiahe Tune" in the middle and lower reaches of the Han River. The tunes of Shanghe Tune include "Crossing Sichuan", "Thanking the Master", "Zhao, Qian, Sun and Li", "I'm Anxious If I Don't Sing", etc.; the tunes of Xiahe Tune include "Little Boat Lying on the Beach", "The Sun Rises to Illuminate the Cliff", "Planting Flowers Inside the Wall and Blooming Outside the Wall", etc. The Shanghe Tune is a musical segment of five sentences, and the Xiahe Tune is a musical segment of four sentences. When the above two musical structures are not easy to express the singing segments with rich story content and more tortuous plots, a musical structure with larger expression capacity, the "Zanziban", is produced. It is also called "Shuban" and "Duoban" by the people. It is usually inserted after the gong and drum interlude following the third or second sentence of the Flower Drum Tune. There are many variations of the Danziban. Some are sung all the way through without gongs and drums in between, telling a complete story in one go; others divide a relatively long structure into several sections with gongs and drums in between. The accompaniment is small gongs and drums, including the stage gongs and drums before the performance; the "starting gongs and drums" when the performance begins; the "inter-sentence gongs and drums" between the sentences and the "end-of-segment gongs and drums" at the end of the segment, each of which has five or six types. The lyrics are mostly seven-character, and there are also long and short sentences. Representative songs include "New Daughter-in-law", "Looking for a Husband's Home", "Liu Laoliu", "Liu Heizi", etc. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
