Flower Carrying Basket Dance is a traditional dance item in the third batch of representative items of municipal intangible cultural heritage. Flower Carrying Basket Dance is a folk dance popular in northern Jiangsu, represented by Yancheng and surrounding areas such as Yangzhou, Huai'an, and Lianyungang. It was originally a dance form in which women carried flower carrying baskets and men danced with fans, singing and dancing. It mainly expresses people's joy of harvest and sharing the feeling of peace and prosperity. The main props of the current flower pole dance are flower poles, which are made of two flower baskets tied at both ends of an elastic bamboo pole. The flower baskets are made of bamboo strips with a hexagonal frame, which is exquisite and light. The outside of the flower baskets is decorated with silk or satin with words such as "Feng" and "Fu". The edges of the baskets are decorated with yellow whiskers, and bamboo strips wrapped with red, yellow, and green silk are installed as basket handles. The top of the basket handle is decorated with a big red silk flower. Fresh flowers or silk flowers are inserted in the flower basket, making the whole flower basket full of joy and auspiciousness. The pole is completely wrapped with yellow silk ribbons. The performers wear emerald green or pink Chinese-style large-collared tops with purple-red edges, black velvet bibs, Chinese-style pants, hair bun accessories, a big red silk tied with red flowers, and a square big red silk in one hand. During the performance, people carry flower poles on their shoulders, accompanied by bright, rough, and unrestrained rhythms, mostly with folk songs and minor tunes familiar to the masses, such as [Four Seasons Tour Spring], [Yu Meiren], [Yangliuqing] and other tunes, singing and dancing. The instruments are mainly suona, flute and erhu. Percussion instruments are added during the interlude to make the atmosphere more lively. The performance movements are mainly knee bending, trembling steps and hip swinging. Specifically, (i) Flower Carrying Step. The method is to carry the carrying pole on the right shoulder, and hold the carrying pole with the thumb, index and middle fingers of the right hand. The left hand is swung in a "" shape from the left to the chest. The knees are slightly bent, and the feet are stepped one step at a time. When walking, the soles of the feet touch the ground first, and the hips swing left and right, making the flower carrying pole vibrate up and down like a spring; (ii) Hip-kick step. The method is to step one step at a time in place. The toes do not leave the ground, the knees tremble, the carrying pole on the right shoulder, the back of the right hand is placed on the waist (without holding the pole), and the left hand is flat in a "" shape. The flower carrying pole vibrates on the shoulder with a large amplitude. In this way, the flower carrying pole vibrates up and down on the shoulder, and the body sways from side to side, giving people a heavy and trembling beauty. It not only presents national customs, but also has local characteristics and cultural flavor. It is worth mentioning that all the performers are women, with graceful dancing and more moving and energetic. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
