Huai Opera (Fu'ning Huai Opera), a traditional drama item in the fifth batch of representative items of municipal intangible cultural heritage. It originated in the Qing Dynasty. Huai Opera, also known as "Jianghuai Opera", is popular in Jiangsu Province, Shanghai and parts of Anhui Province. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, it was popular in Huai'an Prefecture and Yangzhou Prefecture. The local Han people are popular with a form of rap called "Mentanci" developed from farmers' songs and field songs "Yanyanqiang" and "Zaiyangdiao". The form is a solo or duet called Erkezi, and only bamboo boards are used to beat the rhythm. Later, Huai Opera was combined with the "Incense Opera" of the Han people in northern Jiangsu to pay tribute to the gods. It was also influenced by Hui Opera and Peking Opera (called "Hui Jiake"), and gradually enriched in singing, performance and repertoire, forming Huai Opera.
