Yangshuo Zhuang Folk Song Festival
On the night of August 15 every year, when the moon is bright in the sky, young men and women of the Zhuang ethnic group gather in groups of three or five, blowing leaves and singing folk songs, approaching each other, expressing their feelings through songs, and those who are interested will get to know each other, as the beginning of "love". Now, in Gaotian Town where the Zhuang people live, many young people choose Moon Mountain as the place for singing. On the night of Mid-Autumn Festival, there is endless singing on the mountain and the moon on the mountain, and they act as the matchmaker together, attracting many tourists from home and abroad and people from nearby cities. "Mid-Autumn Night" has become a major landscape in Yangshuo Prefecture. There are 11 ethnic groups in Yangshuo, including Han, Zhuang, Yao, and Miao. In addition to their own customs and festivals, a common feature of each ethnic group is that they are good at singing folk songs. Whether it is a wedding, funeral, or festival, they always set up a singing stage and compete with each other until the whole night. These folk songs include those about love, those about separation and death, those about loyalty and filial piety, and those about history and present. The number of singers ranges from three to five to dozens. The singing voices may be passionate and high-pitched, melodious and pleasant; or deep and gentle, like weeping and complaining; or light and leisurely and free and easy... The Mid-Autumn Festival antiphonal singing in Gaotian, Zhuang Township, and the "Singing Hall Wish" meeting of the Yao people in Longwei, Fuli are the most distinctive.
