Song fairs. The song fairs of the Yao ethnic group in Fuchuan County are inseparable from celebrations such as the Panwang Festival. Influenced by the Chu culture, young Yao men and women like to sing and sing in antiphonal singing during some festivals. The main folk songs circulating in the county include "Guoshansheng" and "Xianbaige" of the Guoshan Yao; "Yilalie" and "Kujiage" of the Pingdi Yao; and "Butterfly Song" of the Wuzhou Yao. Men and women sing in antiphonal singing, the lyrics are very rich, and the tunes are beautiful and pleasant. Its main forms are: one is the Huigetang. Huigetang is generally held in a village "Meeting Period" or the night of a man and a woman getting married, eating flowers and making noises in the bridal chamber. Everyone sits around singing, drinking oil tea, and singing in antiphonal singing all night long. When the singing is inseparable, men and women exchange gifts to express their feelings and love. The second is to go to the song fair. Going to the song fair is a form of love between young men and women through singing. Singing during festivals or "Meeting Periods" is called setting up a song hall. When the young men and women sing and fall in love, they introduce themselves to each other and agree to meet at the next singing fair. The singing fair ends here. The Yao people in Fuchuan County have the fine custom of drinking songs as tea. Therefore, "setting up singing halls" and "going to singing fairs" in Fuchuan are still popular. These legends reflect the traditional virtues of the Yao people in Fuchuan who respect and worship their ancestors. They are also praises for young men and women's pursuit of marriage autonomy and yearning for beautiful love. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
