Yangko dance, also known as yangko twisting, has a long history. It is the most representative dance form of the Han nationality in my country and a collective folk square dance art. Yangko dance originated from ancient agricultural labor. People worked hard in the fields to plant rice and plow, and beat gongs and drums to cheer up. As early as the Song Dynasty, there were records of singing yangko during farming. Later, people continued to enrich and develop, and all kinds of singing and dancing forms for self-entertainment after work were collectively called yangko. The yangko dance team is generally composed of more than ten to a hundred people. They dress up as characters in historical stories, myths and legends, and real life, dancing and walking, changing various formations to the rhythm of the drums. Because of their rich and colorful dance postures, they are deeply welcomed by the people. Liulin Water Boat Yangko, also known as "Running Yangko", is a large-scale folk dance that is popular in the Liulin Yanchuan area, with Liulin Town, Mucun Town, Xuecun Town and other towns as typical distribution areas. The yangko team consists of two parts: the boatman and the "body-dressing" (yangko team members). The two boatmen (male and female) are not only the main performers, but also the general commanders of the entire activity. The number of "dressers" depends on the size of the village, ranging from more than ten people to two or three hundred people. They play various roles in folk singing (huizi), including Sheng, Dan, Jing, and Chou in traditional dramas, as well as workers, farmers, merchants, students, soldiers, silly boys, and ugly women in modern dramas. There are many characters, beautiful dances, and great viewing value. The accompanying instruments of the water boat yangge include: drum board, round drum, jiaoze, cymbals, horse gongs, suona, hard jiao, etc. The music is divided into two parts: gong and drum sounds and suona tunes. The gong and drum sounds are mainly used to match the dance movements of the male and female boatmen, and are also used for other shapes or technical movements. Suona tunes are used for "crossing the street" and "digging out the field". When crossing the street, [Victory Returns to the Camp], [Pulling Rabbits], etc. are used, and when digging out the field, [Wolf Eating Melons], etc. are used. The essence of the water boat yangko is the Ran boat, which means that the boat is traveling in the Yellow River and suddenly gets stuck in a quagmire and cannot move forward. The whole boat crew, led by the boatman, work together to overcome the difficulties and set sail. The whole performance is complete and humorous, showing the rough and bold character of the people in the Yellow River Basin, which has a high academic value for studying the folk culture of the Yellow River Basin.
