The legend of ancient locust tree
When it comes to Jining Ancient Sophora japonica Road, it is well known to all people in Jining. It is not prosperous, spectacular, or beautiful, but this road contains the vicissitudes of ancient times, the glory of the Tang Dynasty, the rise and fall of the Song Dynasty, the prosperity of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the memory of the Republic of China, and the modern notes. It has become a cultural axis of Jining that integrates the memories of different eras. Today, let's talk about the legend of the thousand-year-old ancient locust tree on this road. The history of the ancient locust tree in Jining is unknown. It is said that it was very famous during the Han and Tang Dynasties and was endowed with mythological colors. The north of the ancient locust tree is the highest point of Rencheng. There is a saying that "the whole city is flooded, and this place is safe alone." People cleverly came up with a strange idea and named this place "Yushan" with the meaning of "the fisherman lost his boat and sighed here, and the woodcutter in Shanyang secretly enjoyed himself." Because the ancient locust tree is located in the south of Yushan, and the north of the mountain is yin and the south of the mountain is yang, it is named "Shanyang Ancient Sophora japonica." Later, as the story of the locust tree turning into an immortal spread, it spread to Kyoto. Yuchi Gong did not believe it and wanted to see if it was true, so he rode his horse to visit his old friend in Rencheng. He stopped under the locust tree and saw that the old locust tree was old and vigorous, lush and green, and looked like an immortal. He believed it and immediately dismounted, burned incense and worshiped, leaving behind the eternal story of "Jingde reined in his horse to see the ancient locust tree". In the second year of Jin Tiande (1150), Juye was flooded and Jeju was moved to Rencheng. In the Yuan Dynasty, Jeju was promoted to the prefecture. Due to its high terrain, it was not harmed by floods and was peaceful in the Ji River, so it was named "Jining Prefecture". Then the Yellow River broke its banks and changed its course many times, burying the Ji River flowing through Rencheng and taking its lower reaches into the sea. This ancient mother river disappeared, but the locust tree was still lush and green, and it took two or three adults to hug it. During the Yuan Dynasty, the Grand Canal was connected from north to south, and Jining was known as "Little Suzhou in the north of the Yangtze River". The old locust tree absorbed the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, the essence of the sun and the moon, and was worshipped by the world. Finally, it was no longer a demon fairy, but a human form, and became a graceful young man. The locust man was nine feet tall and dressed in green. He often played in the market and boated on rivers and lakes. It was also in this year that he suddenly had the idea to take a boat south to travel around the south of the Yangtze River. One day, he arrived in Suzhou City and visited the Tiger Hill Temple Fair. He met a girl. The girl was born with a beautiful and charming appearance. She had a face that could shame the moon and flowers, and a face that could make fish sink and geese fall. The locust man was staring at the lady, and suddenly a thunderbolt came from the blue sky and heavy rain fell. The lady was terrified. The locust man took off his long gown and put it on the lady. The lady looked up and saw that the young man had a handsome face and a good appearance. She fell in love with him and invited him to her home to talk and meet his parents. This young lady was the only daughter of a wealthy man in Suzhou. The man liked the young man brought by his daughter because he was elegant, generous, and well-spoken. When he asked her where she lived, Huai replied, "I live in Huaishu Lane in the south gate of Jining Prefecture, Shandong. My surname is Huai. My parents are businessmen and only have one son. He has not married yet and came here to study." The man was very happy when he heard this, so he betrothed his daughter to him. After they got married, they loved each other very much. In the second year, they gave birth to a son. Three years passed in a flash. One day, Mr. Huai told his wife that he wanted to go home to see his parents. His wife reluctantly told him to come back as soon as possible. But what she never expected was that Huai would disappear without a trace after he left. Seven or eight years later, the man and his wife also passed away one after another. The young lady sold her property and took her son to Jining by boat along the canal. She asked around where Huaishu Lane was. But no one knew Huaishu Lane, there was only an ancient Huai Road. So the mother and son asked around and found Guhuai Road. They asked along the street to find her husband's home. After many days, they still couldn't find where Huai lived. One day, she and her son came to the south gate again and asked passers-by until the afternoon, but there was no result. They went north along Guhuai Road and came to the ancient locust tree. They felt very tired, so they sat under the tree with their backs against the tree to rest and fell asleep in a daze. In her sleep, she was suddenly awakened. She saw a man in red standing in front of her and said respectfully, "Madam and son, please go back to the mansion." The mother and son followed him all the way. Not far away, they saw a mansion with red doors. The door was wide open. The husband came out from inside to greet them with a smile and apologized, saying, "After returning from Suzhou, my parents died one after another. In addition, I was busy with official duties, so I couldn't pick you up. I'm very sorry for you." The young lady saw that the mansion was magnificent, with buildings, tile houses, pavilions and waterside pavilions, and groups of male and female servants. Her husband was wearing official robes and official hats, and he looked majestic. The original resentment had long gone to the sky. From then on, the family of three reunited and lived a happy life. Time flies, more than ten years have passed, and the children have grown up. One day, Huai said to his wife: "We are all old, you two go back to Suzhou first, I have built a manor in my hometown in Suzhou, and I will find you later." The next day, the husband packed a bag of gold, silver and jewelry for his wife and children, and sent the housekeeper to send them out. As soon as the mother and son left the house, a cool breeze suddenly blew, and they shuddered and woke up suddenly. Looking closely, it was late, and the mother and son were still sitting under the big locust tree. It turned out to be a beautiful dream, but when she looked down, there was indeed a bag of gold, silver and jewelry in her arms. The young lady was very smart. After thinking carefully, she suddenly realized that her husband was transformed by the big locust tree. She hurriedly kowtowed to the big locust tree three times, packed her luggage and took her son back to Suzhou by boat. Later, the big locust tree died again after a few years. People say that maybe it is his incarnation, and he has returned to the south to reunite with his wife and children. As time goes by, the story of the big locust tree is constantly being given new colors. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, the big locust tree became a sacred tree of love. Lovers often met under the big locust tree and decided to spend their lives together. It was known as the Yue Lao God of Jining. It is said that all wishes made by young men and women under the big locust tree can be fulfilled. The ancient locust tree now stands on the north side of the entrance of the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical College. Perhaps the endless vitality of the sacred locust tree has infected people. I don’t know when, people who come here to see a doctor like to make a wish under the tree. Since it is a sacred locust tree, pray for your relatives! It is said to be quite effective. Therefore, the ancient locust tree is now hung with red silk, and there are often incense and candles on the guardrail steps. Compared with some love wishing trees tied with red ropes, it has a little more sadness and sadness. Whenever I see someone kneeling devoutly under the tree, I am silently blessing in my heart, and wishing the sacred locust tree to bless you! The ancient locust tree has always been the largest and most beautiful sacred tree in our hearts. It has always been the most eye-catching and spiritual sacred tree in Jining!
