Before the 20th century, Rushan Yangge was called Douhui in the country. When Yangge is in full swing, it looks grand and bold from a distance, and has a tight rhythm when you look closely. It is like a walking band, a singing square formation, and a grand drama, which instantly raises the festive atmosphere and the peaceful atmosphere of the celebration. The traditional Yangge team is mainly composed of three parts: the front is the deacon part. The leader of the dance wears a big opera robe and a long beard, holding a flat-top umbrella in his left hand and a horsetail fly swatter in his right hand, and uses different variations of the fly swatter to command the team. The leader of the dance used to be called "Medicine Doctor" because the umbrella he holds has some colorful cloth strips hanging from the edge, and various Chinese medicine names are written on the cloth strips, which means to get rid of diseases and pray for peace. He is responsible for announcing the program, livening up the atmosphere, and directing the team members to march or dance. He often has to improvise lyrics on the spot, singing some auspicious words and blessings for wealth to express congratulations to the place he visits. He should be solemn and appropriate, steady and decent, look majestic, and his own dance moves are also excellent. Good lead dancers often know some martial arts, and moves such as Baguazhang, Shaolin boxing, and mantis boxing can all be used in his dance moves. The lead dancers are accompanied by incense plates, colorful flags, big gongs, big drums, big cymbals, small cymbals, and hall gongs. Just like officials in ancient times going to the streets, there are flags and gongs to create momentum and clear the way. The difference is that officials are to make people avoid them, while Yangko is to make people gather. In the middle is the dance team. Close behind the lead dancer is a whip dance group of two to eight people, waving whips or colorful bamboos. Whip dance is also called Overlord Whip Dance. According to legend, every time the Overlord of Chu won a battle, he would wave his whip on his horse to celebrate, and the soldiers would also break off branches and dance like the Overlord. The exciting, high-pitched and majestic scene attracted the common people, who followed suit and gradually formed this dance. The props for whip dance are horse whips. The dancers swing the whips and change formations according to the routines. In some places, the props used are colorful bamboo poles with copper coins inside, which can make crisp and pleasant sounds when waved. Following the whip dance group is the flower drum group of two to eight people, which mainly dances and beats the flower drum. The flower drum group is composed of young and middle-aged men and is the most dynamic and infectious part of the Yangge. They dress up as martial artists, and pay attention to masculine momentum and fitness. During the performance, they wave their arms and use the drumsticks in their right hands to hit the flower drums on their waists according to the beats. They also intersperse left and right according to the prescribed movements, and jump back and forth. It is really a dragon and tiger leaping, swallowing mountains and rivers. Following the flower drum group is the female fan group of two to eight people. The dancers hold colorful fans and dance gracefully, with smooth movements and beautiful postures. The number of people in each group can also be increased, from 20 to 30 people to 180 people, depending on the size of the village. The dance steps of each group are mainly walking three steps and stepping one step, and the two adjacent partners in the two adjacent columns must constantly cross and change positions, which is called "three steps and one interval". The free dance part comes later. According to the different talents of each village, there are often duets, solo dances or other art forms. Interestingly, there are fixed character names and performance routines for duets, but the lyrics are constantly changing. In fact, most of them are small yangko connected to the big yangko. The partner combinations include: the leak-proof craftsman and Aunt Wang, the old man and the old woman, the ugly woman and the silly boy, the husband and the daughter-in-law, the peddler and Cuihua, etc. The content is mostly flirting, joking, and trying to be humorous and interesting. The multi-person dance is more solemn than humorous, and the duet is more humorous than solemn. With such a balance, there is humor in the solemnity and solemnity in the humor, and they complement each other and complement each other, which has achieved the effect of being suitable for all ages and appreciated by both the refined and the popular. In the evolution of history, by the 1980s, the performance procedures of Yangge were divided into entering the village, walking through the streets, playing in the big field, performing, and ending. Slow drums were played when entering the village, and the leader and the flower drum group entered three times, swinging horizontally and saluting. The dragon that walked through the streets was in front of the team, in two rows, dancing while walking. The big field entered the spacious area of the village, and danced in a circle with the "slow walking formation", which was called the small dragon wagging its tail; then the "small coiled dragon" routine was directed by the leader to dance towards the center, forming a trend of many stars holding the moon, with the big dragon coiled outside, indicating joy; then, the "dragon sheds its skin" routine, the big dragon head bites its tail and forms an 8 shape. The performance was performed in the 8-shaped flower, the flower drum entered, the phoenix dance, the round field dance, and the single and double dances of running on a dry boat and running on a black donkey entered the stage. The ending routine of "dragon and phoenix fight" was performed, the dragon faced the whole team, entered three times, and all the performers performed the three bows and nine kowtows to the audience. As the idea of equality for all has been deeply rooted in people's hearts, some Yangko teams have changed the three-bow and nine-knock ceremony to a bowing ceremony. The accompaniment of Yangko is mainly percussion, with bamboo, wind, string and other instruments. There are two types of accompaniment music scores: "Fast Walking Formation" and "Slow Walking Formation", and the singing styles include "Flower Drum Tune", "Pao Sichuan Tune", "Doctor Tune", "Peddler Tune" and some folk tunes. Rushan Yangko was listed in the Weihai City Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection List in 2008.
