The Xiashan Temple Fair began in the late Ming Dynasty. It was originally just an incense fair. Every year on the 15th day of the first lunar month, the 8th day of the fourth lunar month, and the 9th day of the ninth lunar month, pilgrims from far and near gather in front of the Jade Emperor Temple and the Goddess Temple in Xiashan to burn incense and pray for peace. With the change of the times, merchants from all over the country began to take the opportunity to sell goods on the day of the incense fair. Over time, it has evolved into the current Xiashan Fair, which integrates incense, trade, and tourism.
