Xuan inkstone is produced in Baidi Town, Jingde County, Xuancheng City. Its hardness is between Duan and She. It is easy to carve and produce ink. It is black, pure and delicate. Experts evaluate it as: Duan texture and She texture, both civil and military, condensed and smooth. The stone products include: gold star, gold halo, eyebrow pattern, fish roe, black sand, rib pattern, green ripple, etc. The production skills of Xuan inkstone mainly include 10 processes such as stone selection, conception and design, blank forming, detailed design, fine carving, polishing and beautification, engraving and signing, and inkstone maintenance. Xuan inkstone is divided into antique type, free shape type, set inkstone type, inkstone board type, etc. Free shape inkstone is the leading product, and art is applied according to stone, and nature and man are one. The carving is mainly "thin carving", with shallow relief carving, delicate technique and clear patterns.
