The production of Jiangshan West Inkstone has a history of more than a thousand years. During the Xiantong period of the Tang Dynasty, Jiangshan belonged to Xi'an Prefecture. Since the Song Dynasty, Jiangshan Dragon Inkstone and Zipao Yudai Inkstone have been tributes. According to "Zhejiang Tongzhi" (Yongzheng Edition), the scale of stone mining and inkstone making had gradually expanded in the early Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, local officials often presented high-quality Xiyan to the emperor. During the Daoguang period, the purple gold inkstone produced was a tribute inkstone, and "Gong Ji" recorded it. Wang Anshi once collected a "Zipao Yudai Inkstone" produced in Jiangshan. The artistic techniques include intaglio, relief, deep carving, shallow carving, hollow carving, relief carving, etc.; the knife is vigorous and powerful, and the objects are depicted with eyebrows, scales and hair, meticulous and lifelike; the decoration is smooth and generous, elegant and refined, and has a deep bookish atmosphere.
