Qimen Hu's Orthopedics
Qimen Hu's Orthopedics Qimen is one of the birthplaces of Xin'an medicine, with many famous doctors. There are more than 190 famous doctors in history, and more than 40 medical books with more than 250 volumes. Especially from the middle of Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, a large number of medical masters emerged, which had a far-reaching influence and occupied an important position in the history of Chinese medicine. According to research, there were 19 imperial doctors working in the Imperial Hospital of successive dynasties, and it is known as the hometown of Chinese imperial doctors. Qimen has a superior ecological environment and is very suitable for the growth and reproduction of wild animal and plant medicinal materials. There are 895 kinds of natural Chinese medicinal materials in 277 families in the territory, which can be called the "Natural Medicine Storehouse of Anhui Province". Qimen's profound medical resources and rich Chinese medicinal materials resources have promoted the development of bone injury treatment, making orthopedics gradually develop into an important branch of Xin'an medicine. Hu's Orthopedics refers to the Chinese medicine orthopedics practiced by Hu Xianjun, the four generations of ancestors and grandchildren in Leihu Township, Qimen County, which has been famous in Anhui and Jiangxi provinces for more than 100 years. Qimen Hu's Orthopedics originated from Hu Xianjun. Hu Xianjun (1833-1892) got the "Shaolin Temple Zhang Dazhou Secret Prescription" when he was young. He was overjoyed and studied it day and night. He understood its meaning deeply and became famous as a doctor. He wrote "Shaolin Trauma Secret Prescription" which was handed down. Hu Maozhong (1873-1947), the son of Xianjun, inherited his father's business and was good at manual correction of limb joint dislocation and the use of fresh Chinese herbal medicine to treat traumatic injuries. He wrote "Traumatology". Hu Maozhong's son Hu Youlai (1928-1988) was good at orthopedics, gynecology and oncology. His academic teachings advocated "diligently seeking ancient teachings, learning from others, being good at understanding the principles, and knowing what to do". Hu Yongjiu, the eldest son of Hu Youlai, was born in 1962. Since childhood, he has learned Chinese medicine bone injury diagnosis and treatment techniques from his father. He graduated from Huangshan Vocational College and Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is good at Chinese medicine bone setting, which is unique in Huangshan City and even the whole province. He has rich practical experience in various types of orthopedic surgeries at all levels. Hu's orthopedics was influenced by the Shaolin traumatology school and advocated acupuncture for medication. Hu Xianjun's "Secret Recipes for Traumatology and Internal and External Injuries" said: "The acupuncture points of the body are related to the survival of life. The upper, middle and lower parts, or meridians, or internal organs, and the joints of the body are all acupuncture points." Acupuncture for medication, "like an arrow piercing a willow, a hundred shots hit the target, should be like a fairy." Hu's medication emphasizes "must be quick and early", only early treatment can bring the dead back to life. Hu's medication is mainly based on the thirteen-flavor decoction prescription, and the acupoints are identified and added or subtracted. Hu's commonly used bone setting methods include touch, extension, and pressing, etc., which are selected according to the needs of different fracture reductions, and effective techniques are used to correct the displacement of fractures. In the treatment of fractures, Hu emphasized the importance of both tendons and bones, treated according to syndrome differentiation, and focused on the whole body. Under the premise of taking care of the whole body, he attached importance to local treatment. Influenced by the theory of "kidney is strong and bones are full of vitality" by Xin'an doctors such as Wang Ji, Hu's orthopedics believes that the late stage of tendon and bone injury will cause bone loosening, tendon atrophy, and poor joint flexion and extension, which are related to the liver and kidney. Therefore, in the late stage of fracture, attention should be paid to the regulation and replenishment of the liver and kidney, and the combination of diet therapy with liver and kidney tonic drugs can promote the patient's recovery. For the fixation of fractures after manual reduction, Hu advocated the combination of static and dynamic, using local materials, mainly fir bark, and making various splints that meet the requirements of the limbs according to the physiological curvature of the patient's fracture site, so that the patient feels comfortable and the fixation effect is reliable. In 1986, Qimen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established, and the orthopedics department was established, mainly using Hu's orthopedic therapy. He is good at the diagnosis and treatment of trauma, spine, and joint diseases, the manipulation and surgical treatment of bone and joint injuries, as well as joint and spine diseases, microsurgery finger replantation and flap repair. He has achieved good results in the treatment of various limb multiple fractures, low back pain and other common diseases using the combination of Chinese and Western medicine. For forearm and upper arm fractures, traditional manipulation is used to reduce and fix with a small splint, and Chinese medicine is used for external application and oral decoction in the early stage, and Chinese herbal medicine is used for external fumigation and joint functional exercise in the middle and late stages. For joint fractures and limb fractures after surgery, CDM machine functional exercise is used comprehensively, and Chinese herbal medicine is used for external fumigation and joint functional exercise. In the diagnosis, conservative treatment and surgical treatment of limb trauma (intra-articular fracture repair and pelvic fracture reduction and internal fixation) and bone diseases (including benign tumors and tumor-like changes, excision, scraping and repair), there are treatment methods for different types and degrees of illness, and satisfactory results have been achieved. Qimen County People's Hospital established the Orthopedics Department in 2001, mainly using Hu's Orthopedics Therapy. From 2008 to 2012, it admitted 5,722 orthopedic patients, cured 5,655 of them, and the cure rate was 98.8%.
