The Great Seal Script of the Upper Side is based on the Small Seal Script. The strokes are repeatedly folded, twisted and curved, and the dots and strokes are in both vertical and horizontal directions, filling the blank part and seeking uniformity. "Curved, flat and full" is the biggest feature of the Great Seal Script of the Upper Side. The number of folds, the number of folds for each character, depends on the complexity of the strokes. There are five folds, six folds, seven folds, eight folds, nine folds and ten folds. It is also called Nine-fold Seal Script or Die Seal Script; "It uses nine as the end of the number, which means it is numerous," describing its many folds. The Great Seal Script of the Upper Side is a representative of the Chinese decorative art seal script. At present, it is mainly used in the signature and casual seals of calligraphy works, and brush calligraphy works. Since there has never been a complete "Character Book" in history, it is mainly based on the inheritance of generations of folk teachers and the plagiarism of predecessors' works. For single words that are not ready-made, they are often made up and pieced together. Therefore, due to the difficulty of inheritance, fewer and fewer people learn and understand it. It is estimated that there are less than 100 people in the country who can recognize and read single words without the help of reference materials. There are even fewer people who can master it. If it is not protected and developed, the Shangfang Dazhuan will be in danger of being lost. The application of this project is to create better conditions for the research, protection, text translation, correction and writing of the Shangfang Dazhuan, a traditional art.
