Sugar painting (Zitong)
"Sugar painting" originated in the Tang Dynasty and is widely spread in Sichuan. Sugar painting, as the name suggests, is to use brown sugar or white sugar to paint. It is delicious and beautiful, and it is also a local snack. When creating, it is like a painter painting. The color is like jade, amber, and agate. The shape is very vivid and cute, exquisite and dazzling. It can be called instant art. It is also known as "inverted sugar cake", "sugar lantern shadow", "sugar has taste", and "sugar clay doll". It is very popular among people, especially children who have a special liking for this unique folk art. When making sugar painting, use a copper spoon to scoop up the boiled sugar liquid, hold it in your hand, and then you can paint freely on the marble with confidence. Or draw lines, or splash on the surface, or use dots, lift, press, pause, and frustrate, as you like.
