Guanzhong shadow puppetry originated in the Han Dynasty. It was originally made of cardboard. After the Song Dynasty, it began to be made of cow, sheep, and donkey skins. According to the design image of the play, the best donkey, cow, and sheep skins are selected and scraped, carved, dyed, covered, ironed, and stitched. Guanzhong shadow puppetry not only inherits the tradition of Han Dynasty stone carvings, but also plays the strengths of Song Dynasty court painting. It uses refined contour modeling, exaggerated decorative patterns, sparse and real treatment techniques, and meticulous and delicate carving skills to express the appearance, identity, clothing and personality of the characters in the play, achieving an artistic effect of both form and spirit. Guanzhong shadow puppetry has won the Excellence Award at the National Tourism Souvenir Exhibition and Competition, and has been exported to the United States, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and other countries and regions.
