Pingnan Siping Opera originated from the Siping Tune of Yiyang in the Ming Dynasty. The opera industry calls it "the remnant of the Siping Tune of the Ming Dynasty". Since Siping Opera was introduced to Pingnan in the late Ming Dynasty, it has been passed down for 15 generations and has lasted for more than 400 years. On May 20, 2006, Siping Opera was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists. Pingnan Siping Opera's singing and speaking are all in local Mandarin, with the front stage singing dry, and the backstage leading the chorus and supplementing the high-pitched singing. The singing structure is a qupai style, often sung in succession, with a high-pitched and passionate melody, simple and smooth, with rolling singing and rolling speaking, popular lyrics, and free singing. The vocalization is mainly in the natural voice, alternating with false voice, and one person sings and the others sing. This type of drama preserves a large number of Ming Dynasty Nanxi opera and Yiyang opera singing tunes. The play "White Rabbit Story" alone retains 18 tunes such as "Fish in the Water", "Flying in the Clouds", "Bangzhuangtai", "Zhuma Ting", and "Jiangtou Jingui". On the cover of the play, there are nearly 50 ancient dramas such as "Cai Bojie", "Killing Dogs", "Waiting Moon Pavilion", "Wang Shipeng", "Lv Mengzheng", "Cui Junduan Jiangtian Muxue", and "Su Qin". The roles of the roles maintain the Ming Nanxi opera system of "most of the actors today are eight people in a group" and the "nine corners" system, with the "nine corners" of Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo, Chou, Tiesheng, Tiedan, Fu, and Wai, which have been passed down to this day. At the same time, it also maintains a large number of performance systems of Song and Yuan Zaju. Such as the rough body movements; the humor and jokes of Nanxi opera; the unique facial makeup and roles; the image effect of responding to the virtual with the real; the performance program of Bei Zaju; the opening of Fumo and self-introduction, etc. Pingnan Siping Opera preserves the original characteristics of Yiyang Gaoqiang and the simple traditional southern opera performance style. It has the remarkable characteristics of the combination of elegant and popular texts and performances and close relationship with religious folk customs. Siping Opera retains the original ecological opera culture characteristics of Yiyang Opera and Siping Opera in the Ming Dynasty, especially its singing music tunes, accompaniment and accompaniment forms basically preserve the ancient appearance of Yiyang Opera. It is the only complete remaining form of Siping Opera in the Ming Dynasty, and has very important academic value for studying the development history of Siping Opera. From the perspective of clan drama, Pingnan Siping Opera provides an important reference system for the relationship between Chinese folk opera and clans in rural society, and has unique social research value.
