Xikeng Blowing and Drum Pavilion
The Blowing and Drum Pavilion has a history of 130 years. As the name suggests, it is a colorful pavilion for the band to carry and play while walking, which is quite artistic. The drum pavilion is made of fine wood and is hexagonal with four layers. It can be disassembled and assembled. The bottom layer is some regular script with auspicious and safe meanings; the second layer is landscape, flower and bird patterns; the third layer is drama character paintings; the fourth layer is pictures of gods and fairies in the sky, and the top of the pavilion is flying eaves and corners. Each hexagonal layer is equipped with colored balls, and each layer is decorated with couplets and plaques. Each layer is surrounded by guardrails with some auspicious patterns carved on them. When playing, four flags in front lead the way, gongs and drums are installed in the drum pavilion and played, and wind, wind and string instruments are surrounded on both sides of the pavilion to play music. The repertoire played was mainly the instrumental music "Dayuanmen", which was intended to highlight the majestic spirit of the generals going out to fight, waving their horses, the drums shaking the earth, and the horses neighing in the sky; its melody was passionate and generous, fierce and powerful, as fast as a storm, and like thousands of troops shouting and thousands of horses galloping; but when it was slow, it was like flowing clouds and water, melodious and graceful. The drum pavilion is suitable for playing during festive occasions, and is suitable for both square street performances and stage performances. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, China truly ushered in the spring of culture. Many cultural heritages originating from the folk and rooted in people's lives were awakened by the spring breeze of reform and opening up, and folk music like "Xikeng Drum Pavilion" evoked people's long-lost memories. At the end of the last century, Xikeng Village established the Xikeng Blowing Drum Pavilion Performance Team. The performance team participated in the first tea culture festival in Xinchang County in April 1996; in June 1997, it performed in the folk art special of the third art festival in Xinchang County; in September 2001, it also participated in the filming of the folk art feature film "Xinchang Travel". Therefore, Xikeng Blowing Drum Pavilion was named by the Shaoxing Municipal People's Government as the first batch of intangible cultural heritage of Shaoxing City in July 2006. Today, a group of new artists have emerged under the oral and heart-to-heart inheritance of several old artists. This folk performance art will be protected and passed down with her unique charm, shining with unique light in the galaxy of folk art treasures. In June 2006, it was included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage of Shaoxing City.
