Taipingdian paper-cutting is a very distinctive folk art in Pingyang County, Zhejiang Province. On June 9, 2007, Cultural Heritage Day, it was included in the second batch of Zhejiang Province's intangible cultural heritage list. The appearance of Taipingdian paper-cutting is square or round, with peach-shaped and wavy shapes being the most common. Most of the words are copper coin patterns, and there are also wreath patterns, or there are words in the words, such as the word "合" in "鱼水千年合"; there are also words without patterns, that is, the entire Taipingdian paper-cutting is composed of words, and the words are arranged in the order of up, down, left, right, and center. Most Taipingdian paper-cutting works are only used once and destroyed after use, so few are preserved. Some are collected, especially the works of paper-cutting artists with high skills are often asked for by people (mostly women) as samples of paper-cutting, so Pingyang Taipingdian paper-cutting can be passed down from generation to generation, and some works have been preserved for a long time. As customs change, traditional festivals fade, and the use of Taipingdian paper-cutting has sharply decreased. It is becoming increasingly alienated from people's real lives. Nowadays, most young women have no experience of learning to cut Taipingdian, and Pingyang Taipingdian paper-cutting is in danger of being discontinued.
