Qingtian drum lyrics is a popular variety of folk art in Qingtian. It has been popular since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is commonly known as "singing lyrics" in Qingtian. It is sung in the local dialect and most of the singers are blind. Qingtian drum lyrics are distributed throughout the county from Zhenbu Township to the east bank of Wenxi Town. There are about 300 drum lyrics artists. Qingtian drum lyrics is performed by one person, mainly singing, supplemented by speaking, and combining singing and speaking. Most of the lyrics are seven-character, easy to understand, with simple props, regular rhythm, and rich board changes. Qingtian drum lyrics can be divided into "Pingci" and "Daci". "Pingci" is also called drum frame lyrics, family lyrics, and new lyrics. The traditional repertoire genres are mostly historical, secular, and supernatural. There are also non-narrative lyrical short repertoires. Pingci is an entertaining singing, which is a cultural and entertainment activity for people to have fun after work. The singing location is generally in farmers' homes or in many places in the village. "Daci" is also called vow lyrics, which is related to Buddhism and Taoism. The host family makes a big promise in front of the gods to pray for the realization of various wishes. There are also people who raise funds to sing big lyrics to pray for good weather and population safety in the coming year. The main singing scripts are "Guanyin Buddha" and "Mrs. Chen Shisi", and the singing places are mostly family halls, temples, and ancestral halls. In the early 1960s, there were more than 100 drum lyrics artists in Qingtian County. Qingtian drum lyrics were mainly passed down by teachers and ancestors, mostly orally, without written records. At present, the "Ping Ci" in Qingtian drum lyrics has gradually declined and is in danger of being interrupted, and it is in urgent need of protection. Qingtian drum lyrics have been listed as a recommended project in the third batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Zhejiang Province and one of the intangible cultural heritages of Lishui City.
