🎧  Listen to Introduction

Qinshui Guerci is a form of traditional quyi art performance. It was created in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, became popular in the Qing Dynasty, and flourished from the early years of the Republic of China to the 1950s. In 2000, all the contents of Qinshui Guerci were included in the book "Shanxi Volume of Chinese Quyi Chronicle". Qinshui Guerci belongs to the category of quyi, mainly based on rap art. Its rap board style is divided into four types, namely "flowing board", "one horizontal board", "two horizontal boards" and "three horizontal boards". At first, it was a person singing by himself, and the accompaniment instruments were only small drums and hanging boards. From the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, the accompaniment instruments of Qinshui Guerci began to increase string instruments and percussion instruments, creating a new performance method of one person using multiple instruments. In the 1960s, the accompaniment instruments added a "Jinghu", "Erhu", "Banhu", "Dihu", "Suona" and other national instruments. The performance props of Qinshui Guerci artists are "Xingmu" (also known as "Jingtangmu"), "Drum Arrow" and "Jianban". Most of the rap repertoires of Qinshui Guerci are based on the repertoires of traditional ancient books, including "The Biography of Bao Gong", "The Biography of a Heroine", "The Biography of Five Women Who Revived the Tang Dynasty", "The Palindrome Screen", "The Record of a Sweat Towel", "Five Pigs Filial to Their Mother", "Eighteen Women Filial Piety", "Wang Xiang Lying on Ice", etc. Since 1941, in order to meet the needs of revolutionary work, famous artists have compiled contemporary repertoires, including "Taking Huashan by Strategy", "Delivering Public Grain", "Auntie Wang Raising Chickens", "Zhou Xiaojuan Cleverly Treating Hu An'an", "Settling Down", etc. Due to the limitations of the dialogue and rap language of "Qinshui Guerci", it is difficult to expand the market scope, and most of the rap artists of "Guerci" are blind artists, who have great difficulties in innovating and regenerating "Guerci". For many years, they have not only failed to innovate, but also gradually reduced the original singing style and board style. Then, under the impact of modern art, they gradually withdrew from the market, presenting a situation of no team, causing the "Guerci" to be lost. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
