Gaoan Daoqing is an ancient form of storytelling with local characteristics in Gaoan. It originated from folk art begging. According to the legend of old artists, the fisherman's drum was originally used by blind people to make a living by singing in the streets and villages. In the late Qing Dynasty, folk artists gradually abandoned the fisherman's drum and used box harp, lingchi and wooden fish for accompaniment, and changed from singing on the road to sitting singing, which was called "sitting in the hall". The singers were mainly blind artists. Gaoan Daoqing is mostly sung by one person, accompanied by only a box harp, a lingchi and a wooden fish. It can also be sung by multiple people, sharing roles, pretending to be men and women, telling stories, singing and singing, mixed with ventriloquism, gags, and adding gongs and cymbals, drum boards, suona, bamboo flute and other instruments, making the atmosphere more intense. There are also skilled people who play more than ten instruments at the same time, including suona, huqin, bamboo flute, drum boards, gongs and cymbals, which is amazing. The basic mode of Gaoan Daoqing is [Taiping Tune]. [Taipingdiao] is a northern road Daoqing song of Gao'an; it is divided into [New Taipingdiao] and [Old Taipingdiao], each with its own style. [New Taipingdiao] is developed into eight styles based on [Old Taipingdiao], namely Qiban, Pingban, Erliuban, Wuban, Beidiao, Xidiao, Kudiao, Xingyindiao. Its melody is sad and sorrowful, lingering and euphemistic, and is very touching. The themes of Gao'an Daoqing are mostly handed down stories and folk legends. Traditional repertoires include "Eight Beauties", "Ten Beauties", "Xue Rengui's Expedition to the East", "Luo Tong's Sweeping the North", "Li Sanbao Going Down the Mountain", etc. After liberation, Gao'an Daoqing received attention from the Party and the government. In 1951, the Gao'an County Government established the "Gao'an Daoqing Reform Committee", and in 1954 established the "Gao'an County Blind Artists Quyi Troupe". The team members have been maintained at around 30 people so far. Every year, the municipal (county) people's government allocates special funds for the municipal (county) cultural center to provide professional guidance, training and assessment for quyi personnel. Under the guidance of the "Two fors" and "Double Hundreds" policy, Gao'an Daoqing has been constantly innovating and developing in the process of inheritance, and the "country lion" has entered the elegant hall. "Fighting for Steel", "Mother Holding Pomegranate Fruit", "Posting a Notice to Recruit a Marriage", "Moonlight on the Fish Pond" and many other newly created Gao'an Daoqing participated in the national and provincial folk art performances (adjustments) and won awards for performance, creation, music, etc. In 2006, Gao'an Daoqing participated in the Yichun City Intangible Cultural Heritage Art Adjustment and won the first prize. In May 2008, it was approved by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government and included in the second batch of Jiangxi Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
