Fengcheng Hanging Couplet Paper-cutting (the third batch at the provincial level) The paper-cutting craft in Fengcheng City, Jiangxi Province, began in the Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 700 years. The initial form of expression was mainly "hanging couplets" (i.e., door couplets hung on the crossbeams of the gate during the Spring Festival). Hanging couplets are commonly known as "hanging money" and "hanging signs", which means "hanging swords" to avoid disasters. The craft is to use bright red paper to cut and carve various auspicious patterns and words in the form of banners and hang them on the crossbeams of the gate, making the gate full of auspicious and festive colors during the Spring Festival. In several provinces in the south of the Yangtze River in my country, door gods and hanging couplets are generally posted. The original content of the hanging couplets is mainly simple patterns such as the twelve zodiac signs, swords, and the Eight Immortals, or auspicious words such as "Fu Lin Men" and "Spring is Full of the World"; later, with the progress of the times, it gradually developed into more than 100 art varieties such as bridge construction, small rivers and mountains, and the products are sold far and wide in various provinces in the south of the Yangtze River, with a great social impact.
