Zhanggong summer cloth making technique is a kind of homespun weaving technique popular in the southern area of Zhanggong Town, Jinxian County. According to the genealogy of Wang family, summer cloth making technique can be traced back to the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, with a history of nearly 300 years. Its technique originated from Caojia Village of Tongling Village Committee. Caojia Village moved here from Shandong and is of the same clan as the literary giant Cao Xueqin. Cao Xueqin's great-grandfather, grandfather and father were in charge of the textile industry in Nanjing and served as "Jiangnan Weaving". They did not forget their fellow clansmen and passed on the textile machinery and technology of the time to Caojia Village in Jinxian, so the locals still call the loom "Nanji". Due to factors such as intermarriage between the Cao family in Tongling and the surrounding villages, their textile machinery and technology also spread to the surrounding villages, and then formed a regional folk industry. Laowang Village, the main production area, is one of them. Summer cloth uses ramie leather as raw material. The process is soaking hemp, scraping hemp, spinning, winding yarn, winding yarn, buckling, rinsing, spinning yarn, loading, weaving, unloading, repairing and drying. As the name suggests, summer cloth is used in summer. It is soft and hard, has good toughness, moderate density, ventilation, lightness and whiteness. It is the raw material cloth for mosquito nets, and can also be used as decoration, sheets, etc. In modern times, it is often used as shoulder pads in high-end clothing to enhance the "stiffness" of shoulders. It has now entered the international market and is mostly exported to South Korea, Japan and other countries. Zhanggong summer cloth is produced by handmade family workshops and inherited in a family style. With the development of science and technology, the craftsmanship is gradually improving. The production skills of Zhanggong summer cloth have gone through more than 300 years, like a microcosm of the development history of traditional culture and regional culture, and are related to Cao Xueqin's family. It also has certain value in the study of "Redology" and "Cao's".
