"Acrobatics (Sheyang Acrobatics)" Acrobatics (Sheyang Acrobatics), a traditional sports, recreation and acrobatics project in the fourth batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage. In April 1957, the Xinyi Acrobatic Troupe (Zhou Changfu's team), Xinsheng Acrobatic Troupe (Zhou Guofa's team), and Fujian Quanzhou Yixin Circus (Sheyang people, Chen Songshan's team) of the 18 troupes of Jianhu successively registered and merged in Sheyang to form the Sheyang County Acrobatic Troupe. The art of acrobatics has since taken root in Sheyang. Acrobatics has made a qualitative leap from performing on the street to performing on the stage, and from wandering folk artists to becoming people's literary and artistic workers. After the establishment of the troupe, due to the change in the status of performers, the expansion of the team, and the support of the government, the performance costumes and props have been continuously updated and purchased, the troupe's equipment has been greatly improved, the quality of the program has been improved, the performance area has been expanded, and the collective economic income has also increased significantly. From then on, the folk acrobatic team abandoned the horses and boats, said goodbye to the shed cloth fence, walked into the regular theater, and toured cities across the province. In 1960, the province organized a provincial acrobatics festival, which played a great role in promoting the development, promotion and improvement of acrobatics. The county acrobatics troupe participated in the festival and achieved good results, but still felt its own shortcomings. In order to learn from others' strengths and make up for its own weaknesses, the county government reorganized the troupe, changing it from a family-based troupe to a social-based troupe, reducing some personnel and absorbing a large number of better performing artists from other places into the troupe, such as Qi Chunlin from Hangzhou, Wang Zhongbao from Tianjin, Wang Daixiao from Shanghai, Wang Shuigen from Wuxi, Dong Yongbiao from Wuhan, Li Zhihuan from Guangdong, etc. The troupe's personnel tended to be uniform, and the programs were more sophisticated. At the same time, a band was formed to play with the performance, set off the atmosphere of the performance, purchased stage lighting, and used scenery to integrate performance, music, lighting, and stage beauty, greatly improving the quality and effect of the performance. Since then, Sheyang County Acrobatic Troupe has entered the mainstream, performing in cities of Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian and other provinces and cities. Wherever it goes, it is well received by the audience and has received a strong response, entering a new era. In the early 1970s, the flow of artistic talents was no longer like in the 1960s, when talents could be recruited everywhere. Acrobats were clear about this: it was urgent to train successors. With the approval of the government, in August 1970, May 1975, and April 1983, primary school students were recruited throughout the county (also from neighboring counties and other places); in March 1992, March 1999, and September 2008, with the approval of the Provincial Department of Culture, students were recruited through Yancheng Lu Xun Opera School, recruiting 15-25 people each term, and training them in special classes. The government attaches great importance to this work and has allocated training funds to ensure that there are successors to acrobatics and that the art of acrobatics can thrive and prosper in our area. One of the major features of Sheyang Acrobatic Troupe is the neat team of actors and the strong performance lineup. When performing collective programs, the neat team, the fit body and the strong physique give the audience a feeling of spiritual excitement. Secondly, it is important to pay attention to the training of basic basic skills, and the waist, legs, top and somersaults go hand in hand and keep working hard, so that the actors can be well-trained, have solid basic skills, be versatile and handy. After strengthening and improving, the program can meet the requirements of high, difficult, new and beautiful, and win the praise of the audience. The third is to continuously create fine products. Form your own signature program, so that others don’t have it, and others have it. For example, in the 1960s and 1970s, the Sheyang Acrobatic Troupe performed rotating plates, biting flowers, hand skills, top skills, pole carrying, cup rolling, opponent top bowl, chair top brick splitting, top cylinder, double climbing pole, gymnastics skills, shaking board chair top, water meteor, high platform fixed car, car skills, shaking plate clapping, aerial trapeze, ventriloquism, tightrope walking, umbrella pedaling, diabolo, magic, collective martial arts, etc., which are all characteristic programs with a sense of the times. With the progress of society, people's cultural living standards are constantly improving, and the appreciation requirements are getting higher and higher. This has prompted the acrobatic programs to be continuously improved, innovated and innovative while being inherited. Sheyang Acrobatic Troupe closely follows the pulse of the times, and arranges the "biting flower" program of a single performance into "three-layer biting flower", and sublimates the combination of pedaling umbrellas and pedaling people into "double pedaling skills". The top skills have developed from static to dynamic, and are performed on a unicycle. "Walking on the tightrope" absorbs some movements of hard steel wires, and performs forward rolls, backflips, front bridges, etc. on soft steel wires. Hand skills have developed from throwing six circles to ten; five beats have been increased to seven; "Head skills" have been increased from double small head tops to head jumps, head up and down stairs; "High car kicking bowls" is performed on a high platform, and multiple bowls are kicked continuously, etc. Through innovation and development, these programs have become not only difficult, but also novel and more beautiful, and have won many awards in national, East China and provincial competitions. After entering the 1980s, with the continuous deepening of reform and opening up, the commodity economy has emerged, the cultural market is rich and colorful, television and video have developed and popularized unprecedentedly, and modern popular culture such as dance halls, movie theaters, and popular music have had a great impact on acrobatics, resulting in a recession and shrinkage in the acrobatics performance art market. In addition, the operating mechanism, ideological concepts and troupe system formed during the planned economy period, as well as the replacement of the band's performance with tapes, have caused the troupe to have too many redundant staff and too heavy a burden on personnel. The acrobatics troupe is difficult to maintain normal artistic production and daily expenses, so that it cannot perform or loses more and more money. Many professional acrobatics troupes have been paralyzed and revoked by local governments. Although our county's acrobatics troupe is facing many difficulties and is struggling, due to the attention of the local government, in 1987 and 1988, it arranged surplus redundant staff and used it as a special reserved drama, with special funds allocated from the finance every year to support it. From the perspective of its own survival and development, the troupe correctly faced the objective factors of the performance market and realized that, first, acrobatics must change with the development of the situation, and the audience must not abandon acrobatics; second, acrobatics is a genuine popular art, and there is still a certain performance market in the grassroots towns and villages, and it is still popular; third, it is not affected by language and characters, and has no language barriers in international cultural exchanges. It can expand to the international market and make this Chinese art treasure more gorgeous. Through the support of the government and its own efforts, while achieving domestic success, it actively expands the international performance market through various channels, achieving a win-win situation of social and economic benefits, and making acrobatics a characteristic cultural brand of our county.
