Pizhou clay toys, a traditional handicraft item in the first batch of representative items of Xuzhou's municipal intangible cultural heritage. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, Pizhou's clay and pottery toys were very popular among the people. After thousands of years of production and improvement, it has evolved into the current Pizhou local folk art. Pizhou clay toys are popular in the whole territory of Pizhou and its surrounding areas, and are concentrated in the northern villages of Pizhou, mainly in Sihu Town, Chahe Town, Xinglou Town, Zouzhuang Town, Tiefu Town, Gangshang Town, Guanhu Town, etc. The varieties and themes of clay toys are extensive and varied. Among them, the most local characteristics are clay jars, clay dolls, clay roosters, clay tigers, clay monkeys, clay lions, rabbit gods, Guan Gong, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Eight Immortals Tumblers, longevity peaches, and drama characters. The patterns and patterns of Pizhou clay toys are composed of traditional patterns. Each stroke represents a symbol. They are totems that people yearn for and the language of releasing emotions, especially those anthropomorphic animal clay toys.
