Peixian Lotus Leaf Fallen

Jiangsu
🎧  Listen to Introduction

Lotus Leaf Falling is a kind of folk art. It has a cymbal that looks like a lotus leaf, a big wooden hammer that hits the cymbal, and a pair of bamboo boards. These simple props can be used to sing passionate, melodious, vivid, and vivid characters with different expressions. Lotus Leaf Falling evolved from Tangshan Falling (the predecessor of Pingju) in Hebei. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, Tangshan Falling actors were poor and destitute. They first lived in Heze and Jining areas of Shandong, and made a living by singing and begging. At that time, it was called "Shandong Luozi". A big cymbal, a bamboo board, and a gong point, playing and singing by yourself, combining fast and slow. Later, it was spread to Yongcheng, Xiayi, Suzhou, and Xuhuai areas in Henan, and was called a big cymbal when singing, that is, "Lotus Leaf Falling". Because the big cymbal is the size of a lotus leaf, it is called "lotus leaf" in the language of folk art. The performance instruments have not changed, still one cymbal, one board, one stick, and one gong beat. The tune is unique, with four lines, and the tune is the tune of Tangshan Luozi, "Phoenix 0 Head" and "Hu Hai Hai". The tone is high and passionate, and the performances are mostly performed in the robe and belt book "Bao Gong's Case" and the gun, knife and horse trot book "Sui and Tang Dynasty Romance". Now there are almost no lotus leaf Luozi actors in Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui, and only Xu Zhiren in Xuzhou is still performing.
