Lotus leaf rap is a unique rap art form in Xiamen. It originated from the "Su cymbal rap" formed in Sichuan during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. In the 1950s, Xiamen introduced and processed it. On the basis of Xiamen's Xiangqu rap, it absorbed the advantages of "Su cymbal rap" and formed the current lotus leaf rap. "Lotus leaf" is composed of Su cymbals, vertical boards, bamboo chopsticks and ribbons. Lotus leaf rap is lively and has a warm atmosphere. The rhythm of speaking, singing, acting and playing (beating) is brisk and has a strong sense of rhythm. It is good at expressing the tracks of life with tense plots and fierce struggles. The performance forms of lotus leaf rap are diverse. There are one person playing multiple roles, and there are also actors who sing and accompany the whole band. There are also some musicians in the accompaniment band who play the leading role, jumping in and out, etc. In early 2004, Tong'an's lotus leaf rap "Nephew, Daughter, Dad" was broadcast on CCTV's "Quyuan Zatan", which refreshed the audience.
