Splashing flower basket
Splashing flower baskets is a traditional dance item on the first batch of representative items of Nantong's municipal intangible cultural heritage. "Splashing flower baskets" is a folk dance that combines Rudong Fengli lanterns with the "shoulder-carrying" technique. Originated during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, "Splashing flower baskets" is based on the story of "the goddess scattering flowers" in Buddhist scriptures. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang, Master Yunguang's lecture moved the heavens and the ceiling fell one after another. "The Vimalakirti Sutra Viewing All Living Beings" also has a record: "In Vimalakirti's room, a goddess scattered flowers from heaven to the bodhisattvas to test their practice." This is an extraordinary legend of "the sky". People have always loved flowers and regard them as a microcosm of spring, a symbol of beauty and happiness. The fairy who scatters flowers pours the flower basket upside down, scattering thousands of flowers to the world, spreading happiness and hope to the earth, expressing people's pursuit of a better life and their vision of the future. Every lantern festival, "Splashing flower baskets" is warmly welcomed by the masses for its beauty, ingenuity and thrill. Since the 1980s, artists have excavated and sorted out the dance and put it on stage again. In 1983, "Flower Basket" participated in the folk dance performance of Jiangsu Province (Nanjing Section). The dance has been included in the "Jiangsu Volume of the Collection of Chinese National Folk Dances". (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
