Nanjing Interior Painting
Nanjing inner painting is a traditional art project in the fourth batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage. Inner painting snuff bottles are a traditional craft unique to China. Since the production of inner painting snuff bottles in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, it has gone through nearly two hundred years and is a shining pearl in the hall of traditional Chinese folk art. It is a pocket-sized artwork that integrates the essence of national art. With its special artistic expression, it is regarded as an art of "supernatural craftsmanship" overseas. Inner painting snuff bottles originated in Beijing and were owned by royal nobles and dignitaries at that time. Ye Zhongsan, one of the "Four Famous Inner Painting Masters in Beijing" in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, is known as the founder of the modern "Beijing" and "Hebei" schools of inner painting. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Beijing Institute of Arts and Crafts was established, and the inner painting craft had a clear master-disciple relationship. At present, there are four major schools in China: "Beijing School", "Hebei School", "Lu School" and "Guangdong School". The artists of the Beijing School use bamboo and willow brushes to paint, and are known for their simple and elegant pictures; the Shandong School uses fine brushes to paint, and wins with delicate pictures and gorgeous descriptions. Wang Xisan, on the basis of inheriting the techniques of Ye Zhongsan, a famous old artist in Beijing during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, integrates the specialties of the famous schools of inner painting, and forms his own unique style, which is known as the Ji School internationally. The superb skills and immortal artistic value fully reflect the outstanding talents and artistic creativity of the working people in ancient China. Inner painting is praised as "supernatural work" and "China's unique" at home and abroad. It is a wonderful flower in traditional Chinese art. The creation of inner painting requires superb skills. It is different from outer painting in that: first, the painting order is reversed, and the inner wall is reversed, and the outer wall can be in the right order; secondly, the small size of the pot mouth restricts the operation of painting and calligraphy, and it is not easy to see the position of the pen when painting on the inner wall. Therefore, inner painting not only requires a solid foundation in outer painting, but also requires rigorous training to complete a good work. It is precisely because of the difficulty of inner painting creation that when a fine product is presented, it is even more precious. Snuff bottles are loved for their rich selection of materials, diverse shapes, exquisite workmanship, and exquisite beauty. In addition to the above advantages, inner-painted snuff bottles also have some special advantages. It is these special advantages that enable inner-painted snuff bottles to fully reflect the dexterity, patience, perseverance and cultivation of the artistic craftsmen, making them a shining pearl in the late history of the development of ancient Chinese arts and crafts. Fine inner-painted snuff bottles have always been favored and collected by many art collections, and are also appreciated by more and more folk collectors. They are regarded as treasures at some well-known art exhibitions or auctions at home and abroad.
