Liuhe peasant painting is circulated in Yeshan Town, Liuhe District and surrounding towns. The specific time of its formation cannot be confirmed. The themes are mainly folk customs, myths and legends, flowers, figures, fish, insects, black beasts, and production labor. Since New Year paintings and paper-cutting are generally posted and used during the New Year or festive festivals, the content is mainly joyful and auspicious, expressing people's yearning for a better life, and the painting form changes according to needs and practicality. Liuhe peasant painting has undergone a long historical development in terms of creation methods and expression techniques, forming its own unique expression style. It is not bound by the objective laws of nature, but adopts a concentrated and romantic expression method, focusing on the vividness of characters and symbolic meaning, and strives to make the picture complete, the shape exaggerated, the image vivid, the theme prominent, and the decorativeness strong. In the use of color, it is not limited by natural light and color, and focuses on color contrast, which is gorgeous and bright, giving people a bold, healthy, and free feeling.
