The human dragon dance is popular in Danchang Town, Dianbai County. The human dragon dance, commonly known as the fire dragon dance, is one of the excellent folk dances in Dianbai County. It is said that it originated during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 270 years. According to local folk artists, the formation of the human dragon dance was that the villagers of Danchang Village liked to swim in the pond at that time. Over time, they felt that pure swimming was no longer interesting, so they divided into two teams and had a "water fight". The rules of the "water fight" are: both sides have adults and children. The adults stand in the water, hold the children on their shoulders, and let the children fight each other. If the child in front is knocked down, the children behind will quickly make up and continue to fight until one team of children is completely knocked down. The "human dragon dance" evolved from this "water fight" game. Since then, on the nights of the 14th, 15th, and 16th of the seventh lunar month every year, Danchang Village will definitely dance the human dragon. The scene is very lively and is one of the most solemn traditional festivals in the village.
