"Cup Flower Dance" is a unique flower in Xingning folk dance art. It is a traditional program of Xingning. It has been performed for a long time and has a Hakka style. It is popular at home and abroad. "Cup Flower" was originally a dance program in Taoism. Taoism was popular in Xingning County in the Qing Dynasty. In the Republic of China, there were still more than 30 teachers. Taoist Ling Fogui once studied under Wu Binglin, Zeng Tiansheng, Zhu Guanxiang and others. He learned from many masters in cup flower dance and had high skills. "Cup Flower Dance" was innovated only 100 years ago. In the past, Taoists used bamboo boards for five-sentence rap to beat the beats during performances. Taoist Zhu Guanxiang carried out reforms and replaced the bamboo boards with porcelain "Bogong Cup" produced in Xingning, making the rhythm more diverse, the sound more crisp, and full of skills. It has become a unique Taoist dance prop and has been used to this day. "Cup Flower Dance" is a unique dance form in Taoism, but as a program in religious activities, it stopped from the founding of the People's Republic of China to the mid-1950s. In 1956, Luo Zha and Xie Yuewen, teachers of Xingning County No. 4 Middle School, started to choreograph the dance. The lyrics were written by Fan Qing, a creative staff of the Cultural Center, and the music was arranged by Xie Gao and Luo Zha. The performance was very good. "Cup Flower Dance" uses folk tunes and local Shuikou folk songs as the keynote of the dance music to compose a folk dance that expresses the love of labor and love life of Hakka young men and women. In 1956, this dance participated in the "Yuedong District Folk Art Festival" held in Shantou City and won the program award. In February 1957, "Cup Flower Dance" participated in the selection and performance of folk music and dance in the province and was rated as an excellent folk dance. On the "May Day" of 1957, it participated in the "Second National Folk Music and Dance Festival" held in Beijing as one of the programs of the Guangdong Provincial Delegation. The "Cup Flower Dance" dance team composed of eight young people from our city, including Luo Wanquan, Zeng Yingyi, Zeng Qiangzhang, Pan Huanmao, Liu Lizhen, Li Ruxiang, Luo Huiwen, and Mao Yuzhen, went to Beijing for performance. At the end of the performance, they were cordially received by central leaders such as Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, and Song Qingling, and took photos together. After 1980, as a collection of Taoist materials, the Provincial Music Association sent people to Xingning to record and transcribe music, and compiled it into the "Collection of Folk Songs in Meixian Area"; the Provincial Dance Association also sent people to Xingning twice in 1981 and 1983 to record the "Cup Flower Dance". In 1983, the County Cultural Center, with Comrade Lin Huiwen in charge of the creative staff, continued to dig deep, actively explore, and innovate, compiling the Cup Flower Dance "The Moon Shining on the Mountain Village", and reformed the dance prop cup, leaving a small hole at the bottom of the "Bogong Cup" and using an elastic band to cover the thumb and middle finger, so that the cup will not fall off during the performance, making the Cup Flower Dance more skillful and more flexible. In 1983, the Cup Flower Dance "The Moon Shining on the Mountain Village" won the second prize in the provincial amateur dance works selection; the first prize in Meixian area and participated in three performances of the Guangdong Province Art Festival to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Its dance music was broadcast overseas many times by the International Department of China National Radio, and was included in the "China National Folk Dance Collection Guangdong Volume" and won the third prize for compilation results. The Cup Flower Dance "The Moon Shining on the Mountain Village" was also compiled into the "China Dance Records Guangdong Volume". At the end of June 2002, the Cup Flower Dance "The Moon Shining on the Mountain Village" was one of the programs and went to Hong Kong to participate in the performance of Hong Kong's fifth anniversary of the return to China. It was performed three times and received praise from people from all walks of life. The dance was also performed many times in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other places and received good reviews. In 2003, the double cup flower performance "Brother and Sister Planting Money Trees Together" participated in the first Guangdong Provincial Folk Song Festival held in Longgang District, Shenzhen, and won the silver medal of the first Guangdong Provincial Folk Song Festival. The newly created Cup Flower Dance "Sound of Cup Flowers" in 2005 won the gold medal in the Lingnan Folk Art Performance of the 2005 Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival, and won the gold medal again in the 3rd Guangdong Provincial Mass Music and Dance Flower Festival.
